The World of SABISĀ®

The Student Life Organisation

The SABIS Student Life Organization® is a student-led society that empowers students to contribute to the management of the school, to make a positive difference, and to play an active role in their education as well as the education of others.

While providing opportunities for social and moral growth, the SLO® helps students develop academic, managerial, organizational, and leadership skills. Student Life also gives students the chance to get involved in a variety of academic and non-academic activities such as tutoring of other students, planning sports and social events, organizing community service projects, being involved in the school newspaper, and much more...

The schools in the SABIS® School Network firmly believe that education has the power to change the world. The SABIS Student Life Organization®,  a distinctive and integral part of the SABIS® Educational System, gives students the opportunity to develop 'life' skills that empower them to make a difference.

The SABIS SLO® is the students' mini-society. Prefects who are selected - not elected - manage the SABIS SLO®. All students are encouraged to join the SABIS SLO® and to take an active part in their education, both at the academic and the non-academic levels. Working in cooperation with and complementing the efforts of the administrative and academic staff, prefects are valuable assets to their schools. They help to raise the general standard, promote high social and moral values, and encourage participation in a wide range of additional activities. The Student Life Coordinator allocates 'real-life' tasks to students, and advises and supports them in all of their efforts.

The activities of the SABIS SLO® bring major advantages. Students are helped to become responsible and caring citizens through learning to:

  • improve general standards,
  • promote constructive thinking,
  • experience real-life work and responsibilities,
  • improve their communication and social skills, and
  • reverse negative attitudes.

While being involved and having a good time, students acquire and refine the skills, attitudes and attributes that give them an edge. They acquire a broad base of abilities and experiences and become effective team-players, and this makes top universities from around the world eager to attract and accept our students.
